Hello, Holy Family Catholic School Community!
I am so excited to introduce myself to you and to begin our partnership in the endeavor of educating and forming the children in our care. My name is Zach Zeckser, and I am the new Chief Administrator of Holy Family Catholic Schools.
It is a joy for me to return home to Iowa. After graduating from Wahlert High School in Dubuque, I moved to Minnesota to study education and theology at the University of St. Thomas. Since then, God has led me on quite an adventure including marrying my best friend and becoming the father of four wonderful children (three of whom are school-aged and enrolled at Holy Family). I taught high school theology for eleven years and was a Catholic elementary school principal for five years. In that time, I earned a master’s degree in Catholic School Administration from the University of Notre Dame. The calling to Catholic school education and administration has taught me a great deal and helped me grow immensely, and I am sure that will only continue here at Holy Family.
While leaving our community in Minnesota was a challenge, we felt God pulling us here, and we are excited for our new adventure in Cedar Rapids. I am just in my second week at work here, but already everyone I have met has been very gracious and hospitable.
It is clear to me that this is a community of faithful, joyful, loyal, and diligent people who are eager to see Holy Family grow and thrive in the years ahead. I believe that our mission statement provides us with strong footing to help us realize that vision. Further, it seems apparent to me that we have a staff that is committed to realizing this mission. I am confident that together we can grow Holy Family from its current strengths into an even more remarkable blessing to the children entrusted in our care.
As just a bit of a more personal introduction, I enjoy time with my wife and kids, sports, cooking, the Iowa Hawkeyes, music, brain-teasers, jogging and praying the Rosary. Additionally, I generally prefer to be around others rather than to be alone too much, and I often find my energy comes from time spent with positive people.
I hope to meet as many of you as possible in the weeks and months ahead, so please feel free to call, email, or stop by, so that I can hear more of what Holy Family means to you, and so you can share your hopes for children here. I am in the office full-time now, and my contact information can be found below.
Thank you and God bless you!
